On August 5-12, 2013, Zhou Deming, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library led a delegation of four and visited the National Library of Russia, the Russian State Library and the Slovak National Science Library, and conducted in-depth discussions on such issues as the "Window of Shanghai" and resource sharing.
Deputy Director Zhou Deming and his party first visited the Russian State Library and were given an introduction to the collection, ancient books protection and digital resource construction of the State Library. They visited the library’s "Oriental Documentation Center" and the "Window of Shanghai" located in the Center. The members of the delegation also went to the Russian National Library in St. Petersburg. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on resource sharing and international exchange programs, and reached a consensus on the future cooperation.
The last stop of this trip was the Slovak National Science Library. This library is located at the city of Banska Bystrica, which is the birthplace of the famous architect L. E. Hudec. Besides reviewing the recent activities of the "Window of Shanghai", the Shanghai Library delegation also brought books on Hudec published in China, and conducted a talk on the programs related to celebrating the 120th anniversary of Hudec’s birthday. In addition, the Slovak National Science Library intends to organize an exhibition on the Slovak folk music instruments in October this year at the Shanghai Library. The two parties had a discussion on the details of the exhibition. Subsequently, Deputy Director Zhou Deming also received an interview from the local media.
