The Nationwide Reading Legislation Listed in the State Plan

"The Nationwide Reading legislation has been included in the 2013 state legislative work project. It is expected to form a more mature plan this year and submitted to the State Council Legislative Affairs Office." Wu Shangzhi, a person in charge of the related department of the State Press, Publication and Radio Administration revealed the news at the Expert Seminar on Nationwide Reading Legislation held on August 1. Currently, the Nationwide Reading Legislation Drafting Working Group has established the first draft of the "Nationwide Reading Promotion Regulation".

It is reported that the State Press, Publication and Radio Administration will regard the national reading legislation as a top legislative priority. At the end of March this year, the Administration established a nationwide reading legislative drafting group. After an extensive listening to all opinions and suggestions, an investigation of reading activities in certain provinces, and in-depth studies of advanced nationwide reading experiences in other countries, the working group drafted a "Nationwide Reading Promotion Regulation". Wang Ziqiang, a person in charge of relevant department said that the next step is to improve the work in the orientation, method and content of the draft "Regulation".

It is understood that the current draft is still in its infancy and the Administration will listen to public opinions and continue to revise and improve the regulation through seeking opinions of the relevant ministries, accepting public advices online and conducing local researches and other means.
