The First Local Branch of the National Library Set up in Sansha

To promote the grassroots cultural development in China’s frontiers and promote the cultural construction in Sanshan, Hainan Province, the Sansha Branch of the National Library of China opened on July 12 at the Xisha Yongxing Island.

It is reported that the National Library allocated to the Sansha Branch about 3,000 books, including encyclopedia, books on ocean science and books of literature and donated two electronic newspaper readers, as well as donating 50 E-book readers to the Xisha coast garrison devision.

Based on the needs of the soldiers and general public of the Sansha city, the National Library will also gradually expand reference services and document supply services, in order to improve the library’s information service capabilities. At the same time, it will carry out historical and cultural exhibitions on territorial seas and other social education activities, providing economic information resources and support to the local military and government for their cultural and economic construction.
