World Emerging Technology Summit & Shanghai Competitive Intelligence Forum Held in Shanghai

On 15-16 June, 2013, the Shanghai Library and the Institute of Scientific and Technological Information of Shanghai and MIT’s "TECHNOLOGY REVIEW" journal jointly held the World Emerging Technology Summit & Competitive Intelligence Forum in the Shanghai Library. This is the first time "EmTech World Emerging Technology Summit" was held in Shanghai and joined efforts with SCIF, in order to promote China’s research in the forefront technology and emerging industries. In particular, the purpose is to discover and capture new frontier technology and industries and analyze their development trends with information research methods. Relying on MIT’s cutting-edge research equipment, top research teams and advanced scientific thinking, as well as the advantages of industrial research tracking strengths of the Scientific and Technological Information Institute of Shanghai as a soft science research base for many years, the summit presents a magnificent “feast of emerging technologies and competitive intelligence."

At the opening ceremony of the forum, Director Wu Jianzhong and Jason Potin, Director of MIT Information Office and Chief Editor of "TECHNOLOGY REVIEW" gave speeches as organizers. On behalf of the Municipal Science and Technology Committee, Shou Ziqi, Director of the Municipal Science and Technology Committee sent congratulations on the success of the summit. During the two-day forum, more than 300 people gathered together, including business leaders, senior technical experts, competitive intelligence experts, investors and entrepreneurs. The forum discussed important innovations in various fields, including macro technology perspectives, energy, smart city and urban planning, innovative models, computing and intelligence identification, biological pharmaceuticals and medical devices. The section on competitive intelligence and cutting-edge technology and emerging industries became the climax of the forum. Many Chinese and foreign guests and conference delegates expressed their hope that SCIF can become a name brand of the Institute of Scientific and Technological Information of Shanghai, as well as the most internationalized and important professional exchange platform for the competitive intelligence community in China.
