A Shanghai Library Delegacy Visited Rotterdam, the "Window of Shanghai" Partner

On June 6, 2013, Chen Chao, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library and three colleagues visited the Rotterdam Library, a "Window of Shanghai" partner in the Netherlands, and were warmly received by Mr. Mart Toet, Director of the Rotterdam Library, Ms. Marjoleine Molenaar of the R & D Department and other librarians. Deputy Director Chen Chao and Rotterdam Library Director Mart Toet expressed to each other their wishes for good cooperation to promote library development and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Deputy Director Chen Chao visited the "Window of Shanghai" with open book shelves on the 3rd floor of the Rotterdam Library. Mr. Wierd Kramer in charge of the Window of Shanghai demonstrated the remote service system for the "Window of Shanghai" digital resources, with which the reader can click on the Rotterdam Library official website and access the "Window of Shanghai" remote digital resources, and can read on line the "Window of Shanghai" books with all kinds of mobile phones, tablet PCs and other handheld devices.

At 3:00 pm local time, Deputy Director Chen Chao accepted an interview with the Rotterdam radio station RTV Rijnmond, giving an introduction to the "Window of Shanghai" at the Rotterdam Library to a wider public, so that people overseas can comes into contact with the latest publications from China through this cultural exchange platform, to understand Chinese culture and display the image of Shanghai.

In addition, the Shanghai Library delegacy also visited the other departments of the Rotterdam Library, and the exchanges involved such services as ancient books collection transmission and protection, audiovisual collection lending services, library IT support and digital reading, and the library educational programs jointly promote by the Netherlands Ministry of Education.
