On May 24, 2013, Ms. Diane Perushek, former university librarian at the University of Hawaii, Mr. Elliott Shore, executive director of the Association of Research Libraries in Washington, D.C., and Ms. Laine Farley, executive director of the California Digital Library visited the Shanghai Library. Dr. Wu Jianzhong, director of the Shanghai Library met and exchanged ideas with the guests, together with Mr. Zhao Liang, deputy chief of the Computer System and Network Center and Mr. Chen Xianxing, librarian from the Historical Documentation Center. After the meeting, the guests visited the Ancient Books Restoration Department, New Technology Demo Center and Foreign Publications Reading Area.
