The 2013 Chinese Library Annual Conference will be held in Pudong, Shanghai
 

The 2013 Chinese Library Annual Conference, the Library Society of China Annual Conference and the Chinese Library Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as the "Annual Conference") will be held on 7-9 November in the Pudong New Area, Shanghai.

This annual conference will have “Book Fragrance in China - Reading Leads the Future" as the theme and is to be divided into three sections, including professional meetings, research meetings and exhibitions. It will bring together librarians, library administrators, experts and scholars and people in charge of related businesses at home and abroad. It is expected that the total number of participants will reach 3,000. With an exhibition area of 25,000 square meters, there will be hundreds of exhibitors.

The professional meetings of this annual conference will summarize the fifth assessment of the Chinese public libraries above the county level and issue titles to the relevant libraries. As for the research meetings and exhibitions, the Library Society of China and the Shanghai Pudong New Area People's Government are making appropriate plans in accordance to the conference theme.

The “2013 Library Role Models” will be named as an important part of the annual conference, with the purpose of finding out the touching and extraordinary stories in the library community, in order to demonstrate and publicize the professionalism and morality of the contemporary library professionals, as well as highlighting and promoting the spiritual strength that help to promote the development of libraries. In addition, the annual conference will hold activities for the general public to participate, allowing readers to experience the idea of a better life brought about by reading, attracting more readers to understand and use public cultural facilities, and promoting the construction of public cultural service systems.
