The Digital Library Promotion Poject of the National Library Has Completed the Connection with Sixty Libraries

The Digital Library Promotion Poject of the National Library was launched in 2011. This project is financially supported by the state government, and its virtual network has initially achieved interoperability. Sixty libraries, including the National Library of China, have completed the virtual network connection, and the basic infrastructures in various libaries are dramatically improved. A total of 24 provincial libraries and 86 city libraries are equipped with the hardware reaching the configuration standards of the project. By means of the virtual network of the digital library and its mirror sites, the project is sharing a total of more than 880 TB excellent digital resources with 12 provinces and cities, including Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Zhejiang and etc. It has started the resources registration and received a total of more than 90,000 entries of local data. Currently, with its preliminary achievements, the project is providing services through multi-channels.
