Recently, organized by the Yunnan Normal University, the university library hosted the Second Forum of University Library Directors in Kunming, with participators from the libraries of the Peking University, Qinghua University, Nankai University, Tsinghua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and the Yunnan Normal University.

With the theme of "Cultural Heritage and Strategic Cooperation under the Banner of the National Southwestern Associated University", the forum is meant to establish a strategic consortium and seek new development in university libraries. Directors of the five university libraries jointly signed the "Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement" and released a "Strategic Consortium Declaration", stating that the libraries will promote the exchange of information and realize resource sharing through specific cooperation projects. Meanwhile, they will create an open cooperative mechanism to enhance the exchanges and cooperation between the consortium libraries and libraries in other countries, and promote the communication between Eastern and Western cultures. The Yunnan Normal Library and the Library of Tsinghua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan signed an "Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation Framework", and the Hsinchu Tsinghua University Library officially joined the Five University Library Strategic Consortium.

At the keynote session, Director of the Peking University Library emphasized that the cooperation of five university libraries should be based on the present, and be committed to resource sharing, joint service provision and the development of librarianship through the implementation of specific projects in the cooperation framework agreement. Director of the Qinghua University Library suggested that libraries adopt innovative information service models, and use visualization research network, mobile libraries and other innovative technologies to help readers more quickly and accurately find useful resources. Directors of the Tsinghua University Library in Hsinchu, Taiwan, Nankai University Library and Yunnan Normal University Library also gave speeches.

It is reported that the Forum will be held every two years, with alternating sponsorship among the five universities.
