Photo Exhibition of Slovak Folk Musical Instruments Inaugurated in the Shanghai Library

This Year’s Third Visit from The Genealogical Society of Utah

On the morning of October 21, 2013, the opening ceremony of the Photo Exhibition of Slovak Folk Musical Instruments co-organized by the State Scientific Library in Banská Bystrica and the Shanghai Library was held in the catalog hall of the Shanghai Library. Ms. Oľga Lauková, Director of the State Scientific Library in Banská Bystrica, Ms. Soňa Švačová, Director of the Literary and Music Museum in the State Scientific Library, Ms. Ivana Judiaková, Vice-Consul of the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic, and Dr. WU Jianzhong, Director of the Shanghai Library together addressed the ceremony. Mr. Marián Kováč from the State Scientific Library gave Slovak folk musical performances. Mr. Michal Štrba, Commercial Consul of the Slovak Consulate General, Mr. TAN Huiming, council member of the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Mr. ZHOU Deming, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library attended the ceremony.
 
The duration of this exhibition is two weeks, which is free to the public. The exhibition presents, by exhibition banners, 24 most significant musical instruments, which bring the local visitors a good opportunity to better understand the Slovak traditional culture.
