Shanghai Promotes Itself to Canadians

Shanghai held a city promotion event in Montreal, the Quebec capital in Canada, on Monday September 23. Quebec Premier Pauline Marois expressed her congratulations in a letter.

Shanghai has been a sister city of Montreal for many years and the two cities enjoy frequent exchanges.

The week-long promotion includes various of cultural activities, among which is the donation of “Window of Shanghai” books by the Shanghai Library, consisting of 144 titles of books, altogether 582 volumes.

The cooperation between the Shanghai Library and Montreal can be traced back to 2005, when the Shanghai Library set a “Window of Shanghai” collection in the Libraries of Montreal, and since then the two libraries has been maintaining good partnership as well as friendship. In July 2013, during the “Chinese Week” held in Montreal, the Shanghai Library presented a “Jinshan Peasant Painting” exhibition to the local people.
