Introduction
Chen Zishan, a writer, Ma Xiaohui, an erhu performer, and Jin Bo, a TV program host, are prominent figures in three different cultural fields. They all have a close bond with the Shanghai Library Lectures. On the occasion of the official publication of the Shanghai Lectures III, they are invited to visit the Shanghai Library and talk about their relations with the Shanghai Library Lectures, in order to spark off new ideas.
Guest Speakers
Chen Zishan is a research fellow and advisor to Ph. D. students in the Chinese Department, and Director of the Modern Chinese Literature Information and Research Center, East China Normal University. He is engaged in the study of contemporary Chinese literature, Hong Kong, Taiwan and overseas Chinese literature, and has written such books as New Literary Writings, Eternal Eileen Chang, etc.
Ma Xiaohui is an erhu performer and first-rate performance artist. She studied with Professor Wang Yi, a famous erhu educator. Her representative works are The Rhythm of Erhu, the Study of Strings, Bach – Inventions and Sonatas. She is an active promoter of the Chinese folk music.
Jin Bo is a TV host of the Documentary Channel, Shanghai TV Station, in charge of such programs as Cultural China and Collection. He wishes to tell the audience that “History Can Present a Better Show”.
