In the afternoon of July 2, 2012, photographic exhibition of “The Enjoyment of Reading” was launched in National Library of Russia (NLR). Present at the opening ceremony were Mr. Anton Likhomanov, NLR director, Mr. Vladimir Firsov, vice director of NLR, Mr. Mu Duanzheng, chairman of the Shanghai Library Council, Cultural Consul of China in St. Petersburg, as well as representatives from two libraries.

On display were 42 prized works from the national photography contests named “The Enjoyment of Reading” as held at regular intervals by the Shanghai Library. Mr. Anton Likhomanov and Mr. Mu Duanzheng delivered opening remarks respectively. Mr. Anton Likhomanov extended his gratitude towards the Shanghai Library for bringing such a culturally-imbedded exhibition to the local residents and expressed his hope of exploring new collaboration ensuing the exhibition between the two libraries. Mr. Mu Duanzheng also demonstrated his appreciation of the efforts of two libraries for the exhibition, and emphasized that the purpose of the exhibition was to depict the cultural life of Chinese people as well as their pursuit of knowledge, science and perfection, so that the bond between the two nations would be strengthened further.

After the opening ceremony, NTV, the renowned TV station in Russia, covered the exhibition and interviewed Mr. Mu Duanzheng.
