On the morning of June 28, 2012, the Shanghai Library officially launched "Window of Shanghai" in Helsinki City Library (HCL), Finland. Mr. Mu Duanzheng, chairman of the Shanghai Library Council, Madam Anna-Maria Soininvaaraa, vice director of HCL, Mr. Mikko Vainio, vice director of HCL, as well as representatives from both sides attended the opening ceremony.

Careful preparations were made beforehand, with books from “Window of Shanghai” being exhibited during the ceremony as presided over by Madam Anna-Maria Soininvaaraa. Mr. Mu made a brief introduction to “Window of Shanghai” program and expressed his hope of promoting cooperation between the two libraries in cultural exchanges in future, so that unique collections of respective libraries could be shared, dialogues frequented and cultures transmitted in two ways. A three-year Memorandum of Cooperation was also signed in the ceremony.

Accompanied by the two directors, delegation from Shanghai Library also toured around the Helsinki City Library after the ceremony, impressed particularly by the branch library of music “Library10”.
