Public Library Service Specifications Enter Into Effect on May 1st
THE ‘Public Library Service Specifications’ numbered GB/T28200-2011, which was recently authorized by the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the State Standardization Administration for public issuance, will come into effect from May 1, 2012.
The ‘Service Specifications’ was proposed by the Ministry of Culture and was put under the centralized management of the National Library Standardization Committee. The drafting work was implemented by the Shanghai Library as a lead in partnership with the Zhejiang Provincial Library and the Changchun City Library.
Covering chapters of resources, efficiency, promotion, supervision and feedback in relation to the public library services, this new code applies to the public libraries above the county and city level, and can be adopted by public libraries at lower levels such as township, community, village, as well as those sponsored by non-government sectors.
