Shirley Young visited in the morning of September 7, to discuss with Dr. WU Jianzhong the potentials of cooperating with the U.S.-based Columbia University Libraries to explore her stepfather Mr. Koo Vi Kyuin’s Archives. Koo Vi Kyuin (or Ku Wei-chün, often known by the Western name V.K. Wellington Koo), a prominent diplomat and the founder of the modern Chinese foreign service, played a major role in expanding China’s relationships with the West. He graduated from the Columbia University with PhD degree in the 1910s. |
