Cooperation Potentials to Explore the Koo Vi Kyuin Archives

The Chairman of the US-China Cultural Institute, Mme. Shirley Young visited in the morning of September 7, to discuss with Dr. WU Jianzhong the potentials of cooperating with the U.S.-based Columbia University Libraries to explore her stepfather Mr. Koo Vi Kyuin’s Archives.

Dr. WU appreciated Mme. Young’s proposal and anticipated to work with the Columbia University Libraries in order to make the valuable materials available to the researches and the general use.

Koo Vi Kyuin (or Ku Wei-chün, often known by the Western name V.K. Wellington Koo), a prominent diplomat and the founder of the modern Chinese foreign service, played a major role in expanding China’s relationships with the West. He graduated from the Columbia University with PhD degree in the 1910s.
