About the Book
Patented technologies are essential factors for a country, region, company or industry to form its core competitiveness. By means of data and information collection, processing and mining, a patent map identifies and analyzes patents of various products and industries in a visualized straightforward manner, on which the scientific decision-making for development strategies of the enterprises, industries and the country can be based.

This book, divided into six chapters -- Introduction, Methodology, Graphical Chart, Software, Application and Case Study -- is the first original work in China that systematically expounds what patent map constitutes and how it works:

◇ The methodologies for analysis on the patent map system, including the application procedures and elements, applier/inventor, geographic region, categories, life circle prediction, core patent, patent quotation, efficiency, claim of right, combination, patent map interpretation and the patent reporting guidelines.

◇ Software: using MS Excel, Hahilton, PatentGuider, TDA, Aureka to generate patent maps

◇ Applicable areas: patent strategy, R&D, competitive intelligence, merge & acquisition, technology foresight, technology roadmap, etc.

◇ Cases: how patent map is applied in such products and technologies as fuel cell, solar battery, wind power generation, biochip, quantum dot, diesel exhaust reduction, marine engine, Vitamin C microbial transformation, genetic therapy, stem cell and polylactide; and by firms like Sony and the Denmark-based power company Vestas.
