Venue: Exhibition Hall, West Wing, Shanghai Library

The photographic exhibition titled ‘The Western Rhapsody’, featuring 108 photos with strong favors of west China’s inland Shaanxi Province, opened at the Shanghai Library on September 14 and will run till September 17.

Taken by 18 photographers from 8 cities of Shaanxi Province, these artistic shoots showcase the region’s very unique landscapes and folkways.
The special western landforms or animals are topics of many of these photos – the remnants of the ancient Great Wall in the desert, the Hukou Waterfall of the ‘mother river’ the Yellow River, the Taibai Shan of the ‘father mountain’ the Tsinling Mountains where the Giant Pandas and the Golden Monkeys live, and the westernmost of the ‘five sacred mountains’, the Huashan Mountain. People are also often captured by camera lens to illustrate how men are living in harmony with the nature.

All the photographs will become part of the Shanghai Library collection and will tour the country for further exhibitions.
