The China Braille Library Opens in Beijing

The China Braille Library opened on June 28, 2011 in Beijing with a total collection of 250,000 books and 660,000 audio recordings that would serve over 16 million readers with vision disorder. 

The library, occupying a space of 28 thousand square meters and featuring 4 book storage rooms, will accommodate the needs of visually impaired readers to the largest extent. It also designates areas for exhibition and training, where readers could receive psychological consultation and vision training.

Also named as China Culture and Information Service Center for Visually Impaired, the Library boasts a tactile museum, where readers could touch the models to learn about the Chinese civilization and that of the world. Likewise, a rich collection of photos, texts and facilities are available for the others to experience the world of visually impaired.
