AN ARABIC delegation of library executives and officials visited the Shanghai Library on July 19th, 2011.

The 30 visitors, came in the company of Mr. XU Kai, director of the coordinating office of AIBO (the Academy for International Business Officials, also known as the International Training Center of the China Ministry of Commerce), were participants of an advanced training course on library management, which was organised by the Ministry of Commerce for library senior staff and cultural officials from the member countries of the Arab League.

The guests were welcomed in the VIP lounge by Dr. WU Jianzhong, Director of the Shanghai Library, and were presented with the latest version of the Readers’ Guide brochure printed in Arabic.

Following a short talk with Dr. WU on topics of library policies and copyrights, the guests took a brief tour of the shelves dedicated to the Arabic publications in the Friendship Library, the New Technology Demo Center where some dozens of kinds of e-book readers are displayed and available for borrow, the Internet Public Access Catalog (iPAC) area and the automatic book-carrier orbit in the lobby hall.
