Library in the Pocket

To meet the trend of public reading, Shanghai Library took the lead to provide lending service of digital book readers. On February 27, the first 20 volunteer readers came to the Library for corresponding training.

'Library in the Pocket' is a new program that will enable readers to read library e-resources regardless time and place, thus promoting the usage of e-collections of the library and adding to the fun of reading.

Considering the potential inconvenience of the new technology, the Library plans to run a trial service to 100 volunteer readers, whose feedbacks would be used for service and device improvement.

To make concrete the concept of mobile reading, Shanghai Library will continue with other attempts at e-journal and audio books for the visually impaired readers.
