A new service initiated by Shanghai Library will meet the public soon, enabling registered readers to check out books online and claim/return them in the chosen branch libraries. Readers could submit their requests around the clock, and the books thus requested would reach the designated libraries within 2~3 weekdays. The service, targeting at closed stack collection only, is expected to step up 'one-card-through' program and promote resource sharing in Shanghai.

The service will be started from June 25, 2009, and Changning District Library becomes the first branch library to join the program so far. Others will follow the suit if needed. For the trail period between June 25 and December 31, 1009, the service is offered free of charge.
