The 7th evening of July of lunar calendar is the date for the annual reunion of Niu Lang (the cowherd) and Zhi Nv(the weaver girl), and thus becomes the most romantic festival in traditional Chinese holidays. With the Chinese Valentine's Day around the corner, Shanghai Library invites Mr. Cai Fengming, researcher with Literature Institute of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, to deliver a lecture on the festival's historical origin, the beautiful legend and the must-dos on that day. 

About the Lecturer

 

Mr. Cai Fengming, earning his master degree of literature from Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS), is now researcher with SASS, trustee of China Folklore Society, and member of Shanghai Writers' Association. He is mainly devoted to cultural and folklore studies with the focus on urban development, cultural industries and Shanghai folklore.
