Ms. Guo Kai, claimed as "Vega", has devoted much of her life to the art of Li brocade. Yet the personal efforts are far from enough to sustain the development of this folk art, which, therefore, encourages her to call for the whole society for attention to the art and its future. On the occasion of World Expo, Ms. Guo Kai would like to avail herself of this opportunity to introduce Li brocade to the audience, concerning the cultural origin and developments of this art form.

About the Lecture

Dr. Guo Kai founded her company of brocade and devotes herself to the brocade culture by presiding over the brocade institute and non-material research association of Hainan province. She set up training classes for brocade arts and founded at her own expenses a display center showing the rare brocade products of her collection, which is open to the public free of charge.
