"The Taiwan Impressions"--the exhibition of the contemporary photographic arts of Taiwan

THE exhibition of the "Contemporary photographic arts of Taiwan" inaugurated at Shanghai Library in the afternoon of May 22nd, when Dr. Wu Jianzhong, Director of Shanghai Library, and Mr. Cai Wenxiang, a veteran Taiwanese photographer made their ebullient speeches to hail the event. 

The exhibition, titled "The Taiwan Impressions", was a showcase of 110 photographic works from nine outstanding Taiwanese cameramen and journalists, depicting the landscape, people and current affairs of contemporary Taiwan, and recording vicissitudes of the island through the times. 

Stepping into the exhibition hall, one can feast his/her eyes on the sightseeing resorts, the kaleidoscopic urban and countryside lives, as well as the bizarre festivals and folklores of today's Taiwan; visitors can also appreciate the diverse artistic styles and perceive the shades of the meanings implied by the different techniques and visual angels the photographers applied. 

The five-day exhibition is aimed at the exchange of the photographic arts across the Straight, and has attracted more than 5000 visitors including professionals and amateurs. All the 110 exhibits will be held by Shanghai Library, and will be on tour shows around the China in the future.
