What on earth does Shanghai look like? Perhaps every one visiting Shanghai in 2010 would come bearing the question in mind. It might remain to be a question even for the Shanghai natives, who fail to work out a definite answer. Yet the Expo will offer us an opportunity to evaluate the city from another perspective and that's why we organize a series of lectures named 'A Tale of Two Cities'¡

The 'Two Cities' actually goes beyond the municipal level to 'two nations', 'two cultures' or 'people in two fields'¡Yet each would come together to interpret the cultural components of Shanghai and illustrate the city through the contrasting ideas and views.

Our first lecture begins with a dialogue between Ms. Ma Xiaohui, an Chinese erhu artist, and Mr. Gianluca Marcian¨°, an Italian conductor and pianist. Coming from two different cultural backgrounds, the two experts would stage live performances by different means as to display the strong power of music to relieve the souls.
