Library Society of China 2009 Summit Convened

On January 13 and 14, 2009, the 2009 Summit was co-held by Library Society of China (LSC) and National Center for Preservation and Conservation of Ancient Books (NCPCAB). Over 30 library directors, specialists and scholars joined the meeting and discussed the formulation of Regulations of Preservation Work of Ancient Documents. 

Mr. Zhan Furui, chairman of LSC and director of National Library of China (NLC), and Ms. Liu Xiaoqin, vice director of Department of Society, Culture, and Library under Ministry of Culture, attended the summit together with officials from Department of Policies, Regulations and Laws Formulation, while Mr. Chen Li, vice chairman of LSC presided at the meeting. 

On November 18, 2008, Ministry of Culture started officially the formulation of Law on Public Libraries. For the very sake, LSC and NLC were assigned the task of conducting related analyses and providing legislative content. The seminar was thus availed of to explore these issues.
