The official opening ceremony for ‘Shanghai Week’ festival was held on 25th October, 2011 in São Paulo Brazil. Mr. Qiu Xiaoqi, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil, Mr. Sun Rongmao, Chinese Consul General in São Paulo and senior officials from Brazilian government attended the ceremony, together with hundred others. In the ceremony, ‘Window of Shanghai’ collection was unveiled by Ms. Maria Christina de Almeida, director of Biblioteca Mário de Andrade and Mr. Qiu Xin, director of Shanghai Radio and Television. Ms. Almeida expressed her gratitude for the Shanghai Library’s 369 donated-titles and expected for a friendly visit in the near future.

During the ‘Shanghai Week’, the neon lights in Octavio Frias de Oliveira Bridge and São Paulo cultural centre are specially turned into China Red by São Paulo municipality to show the intimate friendship between the two cities.
