Chinese-learning Fans Surging in Belgrade Serbia after the Arrival of ‘Window of Shanghai’ Donations

Mr. Goran Vasiljević and Ms. Marina Pop-Cenić, president and deputy president of Far East Society, Belgrade Serbia, paid a visit to the Shanghai Library on the morning of 8th November, 2011, in the company of Mr. TAN Huiming, council member of Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Dr. WU Jianzhong, director of the Shanghai Library, received and discussed with the guests.

Mr. Goran Vasiljević showed sincere gratitude to the Shanghai Library for its sustained help. He said that after the ‘Window of Shanghai’ donated-books arrived at the society, there had been a surge in the number of fans who were interested in learning Chinese language and culture. The local readers especially enjoy the books in traditional Chinese medicine, literature and linguistics categories.

Ms. Marina Pop-Cenić described Far East Society as a precious child of hers and ‘Window of Shanghai’ ’s. She said a ceremony had given to the child to celebrate his 2-year-old birthday. Now Far East Society is preparing a Chinese-language party for the Dragon Year 2012. Ms. Pop-Cenić also hoped to bring some of the performances to the next year’s Shanghai International Library Forum.

Dr. WU said he was more than happy to see the vigorous cooperation and exchange between the Shanghai Library and Far East Society, and was willing to push bilateral friendly cooperative relations in more dimensions such as inter-library loan.

Besides this year’s supplements, ‘Window of Shanghai’ also provided Far East Society some other Chinese learning textbooks and items used in their activities.
