Mr. Jay Jordan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), visited the Shanghai Library on the morning of 24th October, 2011, accompanied by Mr. Andrew H. Wang, Vice President, OCLC Asia Pacific, Ms. Shu-En Tsai, Executive Director of OCLC Asia Pacific, and Mr. Qiu Dongjiang, Chief Representative of OCLC Beijing. Dr. Wu Jianzhong, Director of the Shanghai Library and Mr. Liu Wei, the Library Deputy Director, received the delegation. Both sides expected for closer cooperation in the future.

In the afternoon, Mr. Jordan delivered a lecture entitled ‘Building Web-scale Services with Libraries’. The lecture was hosted by Mr. Liu and heard by librarians from the Shanghai Library, branch libraries and some of the university libraries in Shanghai. After the lecture, further discussions took place between librarians in Shanghai and OCLC delegation.
